Green Acres Greenhouse has been part of the Watrous community since 2001, founded by Melody Penrose. For over two decades, Mel grew something truly special, a trusted destination where generations of prairie gardeners have come to find their plants, their inspiration, and their community.
In late 2025, Melissa and Martial Galay took ownership, bringing fresh energy while honouring everything Mel built. Martial spent three seasons working alongside Mel, developing deep community ties and genuine expertise in prairie horticulture and permaculture. Melissa brings a background in education and community development. Together, they returned to their rural roots in Watrous in 2020 to grow their future.
Mel remains involved in a mentorship role through our first season, ensuring a smooth and meaningful transition for our customers, staff, and community.
